The Cardinal’s Hike
This levada offers spectacular views over the Santa Cruz hillside, starting in a place where eucalyptus and acacia trees are cultivated, and as we move forward, the vegetation transforms into Madeira's laurel forest. The walk continues up the mountain to the charming Santo da Serra.

        What to bring

          The weather on the island changes so fast, so please bring a rain or wind jacket with you, even in the summer.

          Also, this hike is pretty high on the mountains, so it could be a bit cold. Bring something warm with you, even if you decide to leave it on the car afterward. It is better to be safe than sorry.

          The hike will take some hours, and you will have a break in between, so bring some snacks and water with you. Maybe even something sweet.
